Great (and possibly only) hotel to stay at while in Dutch Harbor. Usually they have three restaurants open, however due to Covid, one of them has been closed for a while. That being said, dinner is spectacular at the bar and the piano is tuned for all your ivory-tickling needs.
The Grand Aleutian hotel is a magnificent shining star in Dutch Harbor. I love it here. They have the very best buffet on earth. You might have to go a little out of your way to make it to Dutch but once you try the buffet you will know it was worth the trip. I love the ambiance and everything about this hotel. This is one of 3 spots i hang out at in dutch. Great bar upstairs and downstairs.
This hotel has really good food and great staff who are helpful, accommodating, and kind. The seafood buffet on Wednesdays is exceptional. Genesis was very helpful at the front desk with recommendations, and went above and beyond to make sure an item I left at the hotel was returned to me at the airport. I look forward to returning to the Grand Aleutian.
In general, The place looks clean and simple which i really like. The staffs are awesome and friendly. My room has a nice view in the morning, facing the haystack hill. The location is perfect. Safeway and alaska shipping is a 4-5 minute away from the hotel. The hotel has a courtesy of picking up and dropping you off on certain area you just gotta let them know.
Awesome hotel in a scenic location, with huge suites, friendly staff and a seafood buffet that I still dream about! Receptionist Kodi was a highlight of my stay - she has such a warm, bright and kind presence that made me feel like I was coming home. No matter what time I was coming or going she seemed to be a permanent fixture at her desk ready for a good yarn! Only downside is that wifi isn’t available
I stayed here 2 nights. This is definitely the best hotel in Dutch but do not expect too much. I did not thanks to other reviews and I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very close to the airport, you can easily walk there if you want. It is perhaps 10 mins walk. The building is easily recognizable and in the area around it are biggest shopping outlets as Safeway and Three Bears as well as Norwegian rat bar. Old hotel which provides basic accomodation. Check in was very quick, for 15 usd you can get 24 hrs wifi password. There are stairs or an old lift. The room was old but warm and that is all I needed. Of course it can be much better but I was happy with it. It resembled me student time in Eastern europe and dormitories. I had a good night sleep though. Hotel has a bar which serves bar meals and also another bar which belongs to the hotel in nearby Dutch shopping centre. Beer, burgers and great atmosphere. Hotel serves breakfast and coffee in the morning and has a small selection of souvenirs and books. Overall thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
Really great to see improvements to the rooms/windows in this hotel. Have not had a bad experience. The Grand gets incredibly busy, especially when there are flight delays. They provide a safe, warm, and clean room. Good meals at their local restaurant. I have always been treated fairly and with respect here. Treat staff with respect, and it will be returned in kind.
The burgers are top-notch! WiFi is 15 a day iirc so that kinda sucks but they gotta capitalise, I suppose. 2 big markets to either side and the rooms are comfortable with a great view.
